Vifa Tweeter

When new interesting tweeter designs from Vifa comes, I decided to take a test spin with a bunch. Now we have a 19mm ring radiator model#xt19, and a fat surround 25mm silk dome model# dx25, then the tweeter with heat sink fins on the motor model# d26nc a compact 25mm neodymium.

The first tweeter was a 19mm ring radiator. A copper shorting ring on top of the pole piece also featured in this tweeter, through the silk dome which is visible with direct light. Rear chamber design also an interesting looking which Vifa claims is “non-reflective”. Quite a treat when listening to this tweeter unfiltered. It was amazingly full bodied for such a tiny tweeter. And have sound very natural, detail, and opened.

The next twitter was the fat surround Vifa dx25 and I like this a lot. This tweeter was design to allow for a very wide top end dispersion. Played quite low, this tweeter almost sounds like a full 3″ midrange. This twitter also definitely more full bodied then the vifa xt19. But didn’t sound quite as open and revealing as the xt19.

The last tweeter was the tiny neo tweeter. This tweeter has no rear chamber, and doesn’t play as low as the dx25 or the xt19….and on the bottom of the motor for additional cooling, this tweeter has what appears to be heat sink fins. This tweeter didn’t have the larger format tweeters like the presence, power, or dynamics. When we compare to other tweeter in this category, d26nc has good performer in powerhandling and terms of detail….but less with chambered, smaller than others and more expensive tweeters.
