The first homes of ceiling speakers were office buildings, restaurants, and airports. The reason why people used ceiling :

There weren’t many fans of wall or ceiling-mounted speakers in the past. They are not for those who are into high-end audio with in-wall and ceiling speakers one thing for sure. You’ll need to pay attention to the following parameters even if not an audiophile:

  • Frequency response- the human ear can hear 20 Hz to 20 MHz.
  • Power handling- can safely receive from the amplifier (e.g. 20-100 watts)
  • Efficiency- how effectively the speaker uses the power sent to it by the amplifier.

Mounting the speakers

To mount ceiling speakers usually is a lot easier than in-wall speakers, where there is a fake ceiling at least. More of an architectural problem when mounting in-wall speakers.
