How To Get The Best Out Of Bookshelf Speakers
By Richard Runion

Black Bookshelf Speakers
Bookshelf speakers are particularly useful if you have a small room, without the space to accommodate big speakers. However, you can enjoy a great musical experience, provided you take some aspects into consideration.
To start with, bookshelf speakers are often more than just that. Although more compactly built than regular speakers, these might not exactly fit the definition, just as they might not fit in your bookshelf.
There are two ways of dealing with this situation. You could either mount the speakers on walls, or on stands, designed for the purpose.
The proper placement of your speakers is crucial to your enjoyment. This depends on the size of the speakers, and as we have seen, some bookshelf speakers are too big to fit in bookshelves. In such cases, you can get the best sound from them if you mount them on a stand, and keep them about a foot away from the walls, rather than mount them on the walls of your room. Also keep them away from furniture, corners, and other sound equipment. This will allow the music to bounce, and give you a better surround sound experience.
You would also need amplifiers delivering power ranging from 10 to 150 watts per channel, to augment the sound from bookshelf speakers. You can optimize your enjoyment provided you get the appropriate amount of power from the amplifier system. You should also invest in a woofer and a pair of tweeters. To enhance your enjoyment, insure that the speakers are placed at ear level.
